“A pure, honest and very recognizable piece of prose for any generation. You read through it like a knife cutting through butter.”
Alex M. (Romania)
“One of the few great travel stories still out there. I wouldn’t be surprised if this becomes the Holy Bible for backpackers.”

about this book
to anyone who feels a little lost at times…
Stan is a young man who seems to have it all—until his world suddenly comes crashing down. With nothing left to hold him back, he reluctantly sets out to explore Southeast Asia. Thus begins an exciting, hilarious, and life-changing journey through the eyes of the unadventurous adventurer—a journey that eventually leads him to Travis.
He walked up to me and burped right in my face. It was loud. It was smelly. It gave me the shivers. Then he said: “He he he he he. You know, you’re like, the most unadventurous traveler I’ve ever met. He he he he he!”

about the author
A.C. van Wonderen
A.C. van Wonderen was born somewhere in this world during the 1980s. He grew up in a small town, but its confines couldn’t hold him back from exploring the crazy realities beyond—and gradually discovering his true passions. Over the years, he has worked as a journalist, advertising specialist, copywriter, and musician, quietly honing his craft while standing on the shoulders of the giants who came before him. His journey has been marked by experimentation (and struggles) with sex, drugs, and rock ‘n roll, as well as years spent traveling the globe in search of the great unknown—meeting people whose stories would ultimately inspire this one.
Wondering Walrus is an indie publishing house with a soft spot for rough edges. We champion bold, curious writing that lingers long after the last page. We just launched with Mad Monkeys—but we’re just getting started.
Got a good story? We’d love to read it.
